Overview

Frank & Suzan's Wedding

Frank Brown married Suzan Greenfield on Sunday, April 14, 1996. The gala event unfolded with the arrival on Wednesday of Suzan's friends Christine (who catered the reception) and Sandy (who helped Christine) from Salt Lake City. The dynamic duo quickly established a base in our 1-person kitchen and commenced to "work hard & play hard."

Thursday evening marked the arrival of Mimi Greenfield (holding Aunt Rehette's strudel "like it was the baby Jesus"), Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Merrill, and Aunt Beth and Uncle William (with a moment of panic at the airport). Friday morning Mort & Marilyn Brown arrived, and that evening the two families met for the first time over dinner at Mamma Melina's Italian Restaurant on Roosevelt. Also occurring on Friday were the arrival of Bonnie (from Miami, Florida -- our furthest-out visitor!), Katie McClane, and the legal marriage before the judge in the King County Courthouse. Bonnie witnessed our legal marriage, and kept the parking tickets away by running out and feeding the meter.

Saturday saw the arrival of more out-of-town family and friends, including Janey and Dan from Corvalis, the Pioli family from Salt Lake City, the Las Vegas Browns, Doug from Tampa, Debbie, Diane, and Correen. Suzan's first cousin, Carol showed up, too. A van was rented to shuttle out-of-towners. Saturday evening Frank went bowling with his bachelor friends, and Suzan cavorted downtown with her friends. Somebody got back after midnight slightly inebriated.

Cousin Alice made it in time for Mimi's pre-nuptial brunch at Ivar's Salmon House Sunday at 10:00. Everyone who was anyone was there, including the Graysons, the Chanens, the Levys, and the Whosits. Aunt Bobbie read her touching poem, and Frank & Suzan received the first of many gifts. They broke into surprised laughter upon unwrapping a teapot and percussion items from Mimi -- just what they had asked for!

The wedding ceremony took place in Carkeek Park, at 15:00. The sun shined brightly on the trees, the water, the mountains, and us all. Helen (cello) and Katy (flute) played Handel, the huppah was erected and held by Mort, Tracey, Merrill and Susan, and the couple met under the huppah as the ceremony began.
