Here is an example of a bugged spam, with the text/html and text/plain parts concatenated and displayed by Eudora, my e-mail client. The item of particular note is this IMG tag. Note that the image is 1X1 pixel! The parameters on the URL contain a unique i.d. associated with the e-mail; this means that web logs (containing the time and your IP address, as well as potentially cookie information) can be correlated with the table of e-mail addresses and UIDs which was created before the e-mail was sent.
