![]() These pictures come from the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts' Isle Of Vashon 2000 rally on August 27, 2000. No VX content, sorry. I went with the purpose of looking for some other VX800s, but there wasn't a single one to be seen. ![]()
The day started typically Seattle gray. |
![]() The rally consists of a poker run (where you go by different checkpoints and draw a card for a poker hand, ended up with a pair of nines and ace high) and some events which only truly classic (pre-1974) bikes could compete in. The Vix has a way to go before it's included in those. Along with the rally, a lot of people go to the island on this day just to hang around, ride, or see and be seen.
To get to Vashon Island I took the ferry from West Seattle. Waiting for the ferry I saw a few interesting bikes, including the Laverda, the SVs, and the two old Hondas.
On the ferry itself I espied an old BMW that somebody had gone seriously powder-coat-happy on.

![]() From there I drove to "downtown" Vashon, ever vigilant for another VX. Not seeing any, I registered for the poker run, and despite the challenging lack of detail on the rally map made all of the checkpoints and ended up at the Sportsmen's Club. The Vix did stump a few people, which has its own charm. ![]() |
